About KDLJ Quilting Studio

This vision is a long time in the making and the backstory is here.

My mom tells me and everyone that when I was around 9+ months old, she would wake up from a nap to find me with straight pins in my mouth and pretending to sew and make something. She also says I never stuck myself (or cried out if i did) 😉.  Fast forward to after college, I lived in Houston and made almost all of my clothes as sewing was very relaxing and fun for me. I even made a dress with 10 buttons down the back with 7 in the front, plus pockets and dropped shoulders (Butterick #4811 if interested!).  The dress was admired by one person soo much that she kept asking for it so, I wore it twice and gave it to her after getting it back from the cleaners.  I really liked that dress!!

I started making quilts in 2015 with cotton tops and blankets as backing and my sewing machine for quilting straight lines.  When I decided to make my mom and dad quilts, I quickly realized that pushing a queen size quilt through the neck of a 9 inch sewing machine throat was going to be a thing.  So...I went hunting for other ways to complete a quilt and still keep the fun and relaxation in the process.  This moved me to longarm quilting on an 8 foot frame and I have not turned back.

I enjoy quilting all types of quilting styles from modern to traditional, scrappy, pieced and whole cloth. I have quilted tops made from cotton, upholstery fabrics, dress fabrics, satin, brocade and sometimes all of it is in one quilt top!  Sometimes to quilt the quilt top is a test of wills but the quilt always come out as the winner.

If it's important for you to get your quilt completed and you want someone there who is interested and excited to work with you on your project, lets get started!

I am a Certified Longarm Quilter (APQS Longarm Certification Sponsored by Fons & Porter), and a member of the Longarm League.
